We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Electrical Consulting and Design Engineer to join our growing MEP team. This position involves consulting and engineering and design in diverse sectors, including high-rise, institutional, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, mission-critical, and mixed-use facilities-covering both new construction and major renovations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical system design and analysis, team collaboration, technical excellence and adherence to code and project requirements.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Project & Team:

    Coordinate and collaborate with architects, owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Oversee construction administration activities, including site visits and submittal reviews.
  • Participate in client meetings, business development discussions, project pursuits, and proposal development.

Technical Expertise:

  • Evaluate and modify existing building electrical systems across various sectors.
  • Engineering & electrical design of low voltage and medium voltage distribution systems, including standby and emergency power distribution. Prepare and review electrical drawings and specifications for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications, life safety systems and critical 24/7 Power Distribution Systems, UPS & Generator

Distribution:

  • Electrical service and building infrastructure power distribution upgrades
  • Conduct site surveys, make confident field-based decisions, and troubleshoot legacy systems.
  • Perform power studies including short circuit analysis, coordination, and arc flash hazard assessments using ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or similar tools.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of NEC, NYC Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and energy codes such as IECC/ASHRAE 90.1.
  • Coordinate with utilities for new service requests, load letters, metering, and interconnection applications.
  • Support project budgeting, scheduling, and construction phasing from schematic design through commissioning.
  • Apply understanding of electrical distribution systems including medium voltage, 480/277V, and 208/120V systems.
  • Integrate emergency and standby power systems, load shedding, electrical resiliency strategies,
  • Experience with microgrids, and CHP systems.
  • Develop energy-efficient lighting and daylighting control strategies in compliance with sustainability and energy standards


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience in an MEP consulting environment.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred (or active progress toward licensure).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); experience with Revit and electrical modeling tools such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower is highly desirable.
