  • Effectively advocate for physicians' interests in discussions with commercial health plan representatives.
  • Represent the AMA at various national meetings, coalitions, and speaking engagements, as requested.

Policy Analysis

  • Independently monitor the external landscape for developments related to adverse commercial health insurance policies, including health plan provider bulletins and communications, federal and state legislation, peer-reviewed literature, trade/mainstream press, Federation of Medicine complaints/communications, and social media.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to develop advocacy recommendations and written materials related to commercial health insurer policies.
  • Independently write, edit, and oversee the development of policy reports, reviews, position statements, and social media posts.

Project Management

  • Manage projects to develop educational and advocacy resources to support physician practices in addressing harmful commercial insurer policies.
  • Identify and operationalize opportunities for publication and amplification of AMA resources.
  • Manage and mentor new and junior staff on commercial health plan policies and how to effectively collaborate with the Federation of Medicine on these issues.
