WHAT YOU'LL DO:
As our Database Administrator Intern, you will learn fundamental database administrator responsibilities by assisting with database monitoring, backups, restores, and performance checks, supporting query optimization and troubleshooting, gaining exposure to data security, access management, and compliance practices, documenting processes and procedures for knowledge sharing, and participating in team projects related to database upgrades, patching, and migrations. And, as part of the internship, you'll get to complete at least one key project to enhance your learning experience and highlight your resume.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Availability to work 40 hours/week throughout the duration of the internship (10 weeks, from June 1 - August 7, 2026). The schedule will be Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm and this position will be based out of our Burnsville Administrative Office.

In addition, we're looking for:

  • Third- or fourth-year college student in active pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Management Information Systems (MIS), Data Science/Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity (with database/SQL focus) or related, and a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above.
  • Availability to work full-time throughout the duration of the internship (10 weeks, from June 1 - August 7, 2026).
  • Basic understanding of relational database concepts (tables, relationships, normalization), preferred.
  • Familiarity with SQL (writing simple queries, inserts, updates, deletes, joins), preferred.
  • Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server or other database platforms (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) is a plus.
  • Coursework or project experience in data management or programming (e.g., SQL, Python, Java, or C#), preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to follow processes and document work.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with peers and technical staff.
  • Compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and all its provisions.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and various background checks.
  • Regular and reliable attendance at the workplace.

  • Automation & Scripting: Introduction to automating routine DBA tasks using SQL scripts or other scripting tools.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Building skills in documenting technical processes, procedures, and runbooks for team use.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Working closely with DBAs, engineers, and IT professionals to deliver solutions in a team-oriented environment.
  • Professional Skills: Developing communication, time management, and organizational skills in a professional workplace setting.
