Plate Room Operator

Shift:Night (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)

Shift Premium:$1.00

Pay rate:$19.25/hr

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
This position includes but is not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:
* Operating platemaking equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
* Performing quality checks and documenting results in accordance with standard operating procedures.
* Maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
* Communicating and cooperating with others in the best interest of Sealed Air.
* Performing other duties as required to achieve the goals of the department.
* Have basic computer skills to be able to input ink data into color match and look up ink locations.
* Perform all required quality checks prior to ink going out to production order.
* Follow all safety rules and procedures.
* Assist maintenance and process technician in troubleshooting
* Follow the production schedule as issued by production control
* Provide adequate turnover to the shift oncoming shift.
* Coordinate special projects as they are assigned
* Break out operators for lunches/breaks and fill in where/when required
* Safely lift 40#, weight of solvent and ink buckets.

TOOL, EQUIPMENT AND MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Use of cutter, scissors, pens, hoist, hand and power tools.
* Operation of motorized material handling devices.
* Responsible for equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
* Participate on safety observation teams
* Wear all required PPE and PFS: beard/hair net, hearing protection, safety glasses and safety shoes.
* Perform all duties using safe work methods
* Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings.
* Complies with all established site and department safety rules and policies.
* Report unsafe conditions, all accidents and near misses immediately to TPL or his/her designate.

Physical Activity Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is required to perform on up to a12 hour shift to:
* stand - 70+%
* walk - 70+%
* sit - 10%
* reach overhead - 10%
* kneel - 10%
* bend - 30%
* climb stairs - 10%
* Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds overhead to a height of 72 inches repeatedly over a 12 hour shift.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include average vision, color and depth perception.

* Strong mechanical aptitude is desired.
* Must have good communication skills both personal and via Email
* Must have outstanding troubleshooting skills
* Must have great eye to detail and discern between different colors.
* Must have good judgment with decision making in regards to Safety and Quality.
* Ability to complete production related documentation on both computer and paper forms
* Must have excellent team skills
* Ability to take direction from several individuals
* Ability to work additional overtime if required to get the job tasks completed
* Self-motivated and ability to make decisions

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
* Requires basic reading, writing and math skills.
* Ability to pass a hue and color vision assessment.
* Able to work without close supervision and instruct others as necessary.
* Able to follow instructions and make decisions based on data obtained.
* Drive a forklift (with training)
* Utilize fine manipulation skills (including but not limited to the use of a utility knife, scissors, tape measure, typing, writing, and hand tools)
* Must be able to distinguish colors for product quality purposes
* Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and
Management at all levels
* Computer knowledge and 1-2 years of Windows applications experience preferred.
