As a key leader within the Campus Grants Management Team (CGMT), you will deliver cradletograve grant management services, oversee a complex portfolio of sponsored projects, and manage a team of Grants and Contracts Administrators. You will partner closely with faculty, navigate evolving sponsor regulations, and apply your critical thinking, analytical expertise, and sound judgment to support Duke's research mission.


What You'll Do:

PreAward (30%)

* Advise faculty and PIs on proposal requirements, timelines, and sponsor guidelines.

* Develop and review proposal budgets, justifications, and supporting documents.

* Ensure compliance with all sponsor and university requirements; coordinate routing and submission through SPS/ORS.

* Manage and coordinate the subcontract process with ORA/ORS and partner institutions.



PostAward (30%)

* Manage complex portfolios across multiple disciplines, meeting regularly with faculty to review award activity.

* Reconcile project budgets monthly; submit cost transfers, salary redistributions, rebudgets, and nocost extension requests.

* Oversee subrecipient monitoring and ensure sponsorrequired reporting.

* Manage closeout processes, revenue recording, costsharing adjustments, and compliance reviews.



Leadership & Team Management (40%)

* Supervise staff, provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and support ongoing development.

* Serve as the primary resource for team members and faculty on policy, compliance, and grant administration matters.

* Foster a collaborative, communicative, and growthoriented team culture.

* Monitor unit metrics and partner with the Sr. Manager to ensure exceptional service delivery.



What You Bring:

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree with strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

* Three years of grants and contracts or related leadership experience.

* Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment.

* Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

* Completion of RAA (within 12 months) and AGM (within 6 additional months).

Must reside in one of the following states for remote work eligibility: Arizona; California; Colorado; Connecticut; Florida; Georgia; Hawaii; Illinois; Indiana; Maryland; Massachusetts; Michigan; Maine; Montana; New Hampshire; New Jersey; New York; North Carolina; Ohio; Pennsylvania; South Carolina; Tennessee; Texas; Virginia; Washington (State); Washington, DC.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential.

* Experience supervising or mentoring research administration staff.

* Experience supporting complex or multiinvestigator research portfolios.

* Highlevel analytical skills and financial reporting expertise.
