About the role

In this hands-on, blended role within AlixPartners' Corporate Services Global Strategic Finance team, you will be part of a collaborative, high-performing environment focused on enabling the continued growth and financial health of the Firm. You will support both engagement finance and the Firm's collections strategy. You will partner with Partner & Managing Directors (PMDs), client-facing teams, and colleagues across Accounting, Finance, and Legal to deliver critical financial insights and operational support. Your work will span budgeting, forecasting, billing, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and collections strategy, providing substantial exposure to senior leadership-including practice leadership and our CFO.

The Strategic Finance Senior Analyst is a full-time position located in Southfield, Michigan, or Chicago, IL, and reports to a Strategic Finance Director. Paid relocation is not available.

What you'll do

Engagement Finance (~50%)



  • Partner with PMDs to support billing, collections, and engagement-level accounting processes.
  • Support annual budgeting and recurring reforecasting, including data extraction, analysis, financial modeling, and preparation of presentation materials.
  • Extract and prepare accounting/finance data to support engagement setup, delivery, and invoicing activities; flag and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly reports, financial insights, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses to PMDs and practice leadership.
  • Review client and subcontractor agreements, identifying financial or contractual considerations that may impact engagement economics.
  • Assist with cross-functional, firmwide finance initiatives aimed at improving reporting, processes, and operational efficiency.
  • Handle sensitive, confidential client and Firm data with professional judgment and discretion.
  • Balance competing requests from internal stakeholders while maintaining high quality, accuracy, and responsiveness.


Collections (~50%)



  • Serve as a trusted finance business partner to PMDs, practice leaders, and senior Finance leadership, proactively advising on receivables strategy, risk considerations, and financial implications.
  • Lead coordination with the Legal Department on severely delinquent accounts, ensuring appropriate escalation, documentation, and adherence to Firm protocols.
  • Analyze accounts receivable to prioritize collection activities, identify risks, and support Accounting in determining and processing reserves.
  • Identify and implement improvements to collections processes, reporting, analytics, and controls to enhance efficiency and visibility.
  • Prepare and present analyses, insights, and recommendations for senior leadership, including Risk Management and the Audit Committee.
  • Support forecasting and budgeting processes for client-facing practices, including scenario modeling and preparation of leadership-ready presentations.
  • Respond to urgent or sensitive requests from Finance leadership, applying sound judgment and maintaining professionalism in high-pressure or ambiguous situations.

What you'll need



  • Bachelor's degree required; accounting, finance, business, economics, or related field preferred. Master's degree a plus.
  • Minimum three (3) years of accounting/finance experience; experience in a client-facing or professional services environment preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office; experience with Power Query, Power BI, or SAP S/4HANA preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills displaying the highest degree of integrity and professionalism.
  • Enjoys identifying creative process improvements and finding ways to capture or extract data needed by others and present or modify it according to their requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with an ability to see the bigger picture and recognize cross-business implications.
  • Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the business, over time, and find new ways to enhance the value brought to our firm.
  • Ability to own and drive outcomes within a defined workstream, including setting priorities, managing execution, and delivering results.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to deliver clear, concise, and executive-ready messaging
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, balancing competing priorities with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to take direction from leadership, consult with manager on approach and initiate required actions.
  • Commitment to collaboration, inclusion, integrity, and fostering strong working relationships.
  • Core working hours for this role are 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM EST, Monday - Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.

The firm offers a comprehensive benefits program including health, vision, dental, disability, 401K, tuition reimbursement, identity theft protection, and mental wellness support. Employees will also receive a generous paid leave policy including vacation/personal time starting at 7.34 hours per pay period, sick time up to 80 hours annually, parental leave, and twelve holidays.

The salary range for this role takes into account a number of factors and is between $85,000/annually - $105,000/annually with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
