OVERVIEW

The IT SecurityEngineeris responsible fordesigning and effectively implementing enterprise security strategies,architectures,and solutions that guide IT security direction. They are accountable for the security architecture across a variety of applications or domains and assigned to project/initiatives oflarge size,complexity,and risk. The IT SecurityEngineerdevelops actionable security blueprints, principles, models, designs,standardsand guidelines to ensure enterprise information technology architecture is consistent, usable, secure and adds value to the business. Interacts with vendors,ITand business area contacts tofacilitateflexible,scalableand cost-effective security solutions.

Collaborates with Business Managers/Users, IT leadership, colleagues and peers


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Responsible for design and implementation of security strategy,architecture,and platforms.





  • Responsible for enterprise due-diligence activities including security monitoring and security metrics to evaluate effectiveness of the enterprise security program andestablishedcontrols.





  • Accountable for adhering to enterprise architecture standards, ensuring security technology standards and best practices aremaintainedacross the organization and contributing to enterprise architecture strategy-setting.





  • Responsible for developing and maintaining minimum security standards for Cadre entities outside of the Safariland domain.





  • Responsible for ensuring necessary security controls are part of technical designs.





  • Participatesin security governance processes.





  • Participatesin IT security efforts across all business areas.





  • Troubleshoots,recommendsand executes action plans for issue resolution.





  • Serves as security architecture subject matter experttobusiness areas, projectteamsand vendors to apply and executeappropriate useof technology solutions and lead efforts to examine technology vision,opportunitiesand challenges.





  • Builds consensus around principles of security architecture and interprets and clarifies these principles.





  • Participatesin the evaluation, selection and implementation of technology solutions including providing detailed analysis of pros and cons and build vs buy options.





  • Provides technical guidanceand supervisionto less experienced Security Analysts as the team expands.





  • Participatesin project teams contributing inputaboutsecurity standards and the impacton existing technology.





  • Investigates and reports on security threats and incidents.





  • Conducts post-event reviews of security incidents.





  • Maintainsoperational, architectural and design documentation including procedures, task lists, and architectureblueprints.





  • Evaluates strengths and flaws in Security Architecture designs including performance, confidentiality, integrity, availability,accessand total cost of ownership.





  • Facilitatesproject handoffs including preparing documentation,educatingand supporting to ensure smooth transitions.





  • Optimizes cloud resources, while focused on performance and cost





  • Works with IT team members and necessary providers to implement projects ensuring security and compliance are aligned with industry's best practices, across the cloud and on-premises environments





  • Support team resources to meet departmental and company objectives and goals.





  • Actively participates in weekly change management meetings. Stay abreast of all changes.





  • Fosters an environment of accountability and adherence to process.





  • Supports strategic vision across the IT Department.





  • Keeps abreast of developments and trends in the information technology space.





  • Solution focused, with a strong emphasis on process and continuous improvements.





  • Learn new systems, methods, and/or processes, as needed.





  • Performs other duties assigned by the IT Leadership Team.





REQUIRED EXPERIENCE



Highly developedproficiencyin creating architectural designs for gradually complex designs


Highly adept at consulting, negotiating, communicating, consensus building,presentationand facilitation


Demonstratedability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance


Experience and understanding of a variety of operating systems


Highly adept at innovating and thinking beyond established standards and processes


Advanced knowledge of anddemonstratedexperience applying current and emerging technology security solutions and trends including security and regulatory industry requirements


Demonstratedeffective decision-making skills related to implementing security architecture and design


Knowledge of Information Security procedures and controls.


Knowledge of common information management systems


Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies


In-depth knowledge of development practices of security technologies


Demonstratedleadership skills through project or technical leadership experience


Demonstratedability to understand overall IT strategy and apply/implement IT strategy in assigned projects/initiatives


In-depth business process knowledge of several key business functional areas


Ability to communicatehighly complextechnical information clearly and articulately for all levels and audiences


Deep understanding of Single Sign on and 2FA Implementationswith various Identity Providers


Process Improvement Passion and Experience


Information Security certifications preferred (CISSP, CISM) or actively working on a certification


Experience with Network Security principles, such as firewalls, perimeter defenses, load balancers, proxy servers



SKILLS



10+ Years Information Technology Experience.


5-8 Years Networks, Security, Application and/or System Architecture Experience


Good interpersonal, time management and communication skills


Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities


Experience with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS)


Experience with security tools (Sentinel One, Rapid 7)


Familiarity with Manage Engine Service Desk Plus and End Point Central


Familiarity with NIST, CIS, Cyber Essentials and ISO frameworks and audits
