The Opportunity

Our Estimating team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Houston, Texas to support the various capital projects within our portfolio. This fast-paced area will work with project managers and business development teams to ensure the efficient preparation of high quality, timely and accurate estimates.

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented individual who has knowledge and experience in cost estimating with a strong background in pipeline construction within the US. This individual will have the proven skills, competencies and capacity to analyze and present findings with a continuous improvement mindset. Prospective projects may include, but not limited to:

  • Meter Stations
  • Compressor Stations
  • RNG facilities
  • Pipelines

What You'll Do

  • Lead the preparation and coordination of project cost estimates for all phases of GMPC projects and capital growth projects in accordance with the company Project Delivery Standard (PDS) and industry best practice.
  • Present completed estimates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholder groups to share lessons learned and best practices from completed projects, aimed at improving estimating deliverables.
  • Monitor and improve estimating performance through incorporation of actual cost feedback into future estimates and the calibration of tools/templates.
  • Lead and mentor other estimators when required in a supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with the Project Controls team in establishing structured control estimates
  • Develop and implement improved estimating processes, procedures, templates, and tools in accordance with AACEi Recommended Practices.
  • Review and validate estimates (internal and third party) and provide input to the PDS Assurance Reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years of cost estimating experience within the oil and gas industry, specic knowledge of pipeline and related facilities would be preferred.
  • A fundamental understanding and experience of applying estimating techniques from initial conceptual estimates to detailed quantity-based estimates.
  • A strong understanding of pipeline and/or process facility construction methods and project discipline activities (e.g., civil, piping, mechanical, E&I, etc.).
  • Prociency in estimating labor, material, and equipment costs for North American construction projects.
  • Prociency in using cost estimating software, such as Cleopatra, RSMeans etc. and an understanding of quantitative risk analysis (QRA) modeling.
  • Prociency in developing material quantity takeoff's and analyzing construction bid packages.
  • An ability to analyze historical data and current market information to rene cost estimates and identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a multi-faceted team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of quantitative risk analysis, crew building and project scheduling
  • Degree/technical degree required; Accounting, Business Management, Engineering or Project Management degree is preferred.
  • AACEi (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineers International) certication, e.g., Certied Estimating Professional (CEP)
