Project Engineer

Huntsman is seeking a Project Engineer supporting the Advanced Materials (ADMAT) Division located at the McIntosh Site. This position will report to the Maintenance & Engineering Manager.

Job Scope

As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering engineering projects and supporting strategic investments at the McIntosh site. Working closely with the Engineering & Maintenance team, you will ensure compliance with process safety standards, regulatory requirements, and Huntsman's corporate CAPEX program. This position supports continuous improvement, reliability, and innovation across site operations while driving safe, efficient, and ethical manufacturing practices.

In summary, as the Project Engineer, you will:
  • Act as the responsible Project Engineer for the site, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining engineering standards.

  • Deliver site engineering systems that support EHS compliance.

  • Contribute to strategic investment planning and provide project support for CAPEX and small projects within budget.

  • Collaborate on preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Plan and cost site-managed projects and ensure timely submission of documentation for approvals.

  • Maintain site drawings and technical documentation, including updates related to analytics and automation tools.

  • Support projects to ensure delivery on time, in full, and aligned with corporate engineering requirements.

  • Drive EHS improvements and contribute to Huntsman's Zero Harm objectives.

  • Support safe and efficient execution of capital project activities and continuous improvement of KPIs related to safety, quality, timing, and cost.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

Education required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in process and production engineering within chemical manufacturing.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong background in engineering and project support.

  • Knowledge of regulatory and statutory engineering requirements.

  • Understanding of Process Safety Management, including Management of Change (MOC), Contractor EHS Guidelines, Procurement procedures, and JSA processes.

  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and safety standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Microsoft Projects), SAP (data entry, procurement, parts specification retrieval, history and reliability analysis), AutoCAD, and data intelligence solutions.

  • Familiarity with LEAN tools (VSM, SMED, Kaizen) and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Demonstrated mechanical ability, initiative, and self-direction.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Innovative thinking and sound decision-making ability.

  • Customer focus, influencing skills, and personal conviction.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain strong working relationships.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic organizational priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting capital project execution in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience working with RCRA-regulated materials and understanding of applicable rules and procedures (training will be provided prior to involvement).
