Job Description

Pay: $26-$27/hour

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9am-5pm

Full-Time position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long Term Disability, and several voluntary supplemental benefit offerings. JOB SUMMARY:

The Specialist I, Loss Prevention will assist in strengthening Goodwill of Colorado's Loss Prevention Program and assist in developing policies, procedures, and systems to safeguard company assets. This includes deploying tactics to prevent retail inventory shrinkage from internal theft, shoplifting, fraud, and administrative errors. The Specialist, Loss Prevention will partner with management to oversee physical security, internal and external theft monitoring systems, cash handling procedures, Point of Sales Management, and E-Commerce tracking to minimize or eliminate product and cash losses. The position may also involve periodic deployment to Goodwill of Colorado locations to perform loss prevention audits and to perform covert observation duties, as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Conduct internal and external investigations as assigned.
  • Conduct audits and investigations of employee activity.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled random and pinpoint surveillance at assigned facilities which may occur during a location's open and closed hours.
  • Embrace and utilize AI-powered tools and software for real-time detection an analysis of suspicious activity to proactively identify and prevent theft.
  • Monitor AI-generated alerts from surveillance and point of sale systems and respond to potential incidents in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local management and field support staff at all Goodwill facilities.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local Police Departments, and where applicable, regularly attend and participate in Colorado Retail Crime Alliance meetings.
  • Frequently review all facility Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems for any theft and fraudulent activities by employees and customers, including securing recordings for possible legal claims.
  • Manage and assign security alarm codes and door access codes.
  • Always protect the organization from foreseeable litigation.
  • Conduct Loss Prevention trainings regularly.
  • Conduct Loss Prevention audits at all facilities quarterly.
  • Prepare investigative reports in a timely fashion as well as working with Human Resources (HR) and Department management of the area investigated for any personnel corrective action.
  • Coordinates risk mitigation efforts with other areas of the business such as Retail, Operations, Contracts, Community Impact Departments, and IT.
  • Act as liaison between the organization and vendor(s) responsible for site access, alarm monitoring, and security cameras.
  • Create/develop employee awareness related to internal and external theft, operational deficiencies, and physical security.
  • Provide an open-door policy for reporting any issues related to internal or external theft or loss prevention issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:



  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required; may substitute known performance and/or related experience for formal education.
  • An Associate's degree in law enforcement or a related field is preferred.


Experience:



  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in Retail Loss Prevention or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' job experience in the field of Loss Prevention and/or Asset Protection.
  • Wicklander-Zulawski certification is a plus.


Other:



  • Must be able to clearly communicate with staff and site managers and be able to write in an organized and concise manner. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving and analysis skills required. Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, oral communication, teamwork, judgment, and professionalism.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience performing employee or customer investigations is required.
  • This position may require the incumbent to rotate their schedule as and when necessary.
  • Must be available during evening and weekend hours when needed.
  • The incumbent will be required to travel to and from Goodwill locations when necessary.

*Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements: For applicants/employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, or for purpose of receiving company mileage reimbursement they must be at least:



  • 19 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation),
  • 25 - 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services,
  • 21 years of age for CDL.


Applicants/employee will be required to undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and background check; applicants/employees must disclose all moving traffic violations or vehicle crashes (within the last five (5) years)(Note: not all violations are a disqualification for employment and each case will be reviewed by the insurance carrier); must have valid Colorado State driver license; must also be able to operate company vehicle, and adhere to all Federal, State, and local laws governing vehicle operation.

Applicants/employees using their personal vehicle for company business (receiving company mileage reimbursement), must have valid vehicle insurance, valid driver license, and vehicle must be in roadworthy condition.
