Title: DCS Hardware Engineer
Location: Freeport, TX

Salary: $102,000 - $150,000

Focus: The DCS Hardware Engineer will be fully immersed in helping the Freeport site to achieve its business objectives through application of support and solutions in Process Automation and related expertise areas while also maintaining strong functional alignment to the global business Process Automation network.

The Freeport site is the single largest chlor alkali complex in the world with more than 1,000 employees. The chemical products produced at our Freeport location include chlorine and caustic soda, vinyls, epoxies, chlorinated organics, aromatics, bleach, hydrogen, and hydrochloric acid.

DCS Hardware Engineer Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs all required operational maintenance, administrative, and troubleshooting of server hardware and operating systems (Windows) in the OT environment.
  • Owns, develops, and maintains fundamental standards, work process, tools, and documentation for hardware aspects of the DCS platform.
  • Executes strategy for version management and upgrades for the platform (lifecycle strategy, reliability strategy) with input from SMEs.
  • Provides knowledge & technology training recommended by SMEs, maintains corporate memory and guides/mentors plant teams.
  • Leads advanced troubleshooting efforts and RCAs related to hardware faults.
  • Engages with other teams and OEMs to identify and support productivity opportunities.
  • Keeps up with SMEs new external technology recommendations for the platforms.
  • Defines, configures, and implements Level 1 communication devices between DCS and 3rd party devices.

DCS Hardware Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree* in Engineering; Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science discipline preferred.
  • 2+ years of Process Controls experience; 5+ years' experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of ABB or DeltaV platforms preferred.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal communication skills across businesses, functions, organizational layers, cultures, and companies.
  • Proven ability to work under general direction and broad practices with complex tasks of non-routine character.
  • Excellent judgment and calculated risk-taking abilities.
  • Preferred experience with network technologies (e.g., Modbus), AspenTech IP21, third-party device interfaces (Bently-Nevada, LIMS, etc.), and PLCs.
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license.
