ADVANCED MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING MANAGER
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN - WORLD HEADQUARTERS

As a member of the Advanced Manufacturing team, the AME Manager will be responsible for: The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:



  • Responsible for managing the activities of the AME team in the North America region.

    • Developing manufacturing processes and related equipment for new electrical components (PCBAs and Box-Builds). Processes will primarily include SMT, assembly, and quality control.
    • Cost estimation - new/modified business quoting.
    • Automation and industrialization planning, for new and existing products.
    • Develop and maintain budgets and timelines.
    • Prepare RFQs (requests for quotation), evaluate responses, provide recommendations.
    • Develop materials for and participate in technical reviews with customers.
    • Work with Quality and Plant engineers to develop PFMEA, work instructions, and control plans.
    • Expected to be able to concept and define processes, while working with and managing integrators.
    • Willingness and ability to travel as development and launch schedules dictate.


  • Champion the development and implementation of manufacturing best practices at Apodaca plants, focusing on the best practice read across from other Lear sites.
  • Support the Lear IDEA initiative by promoting and managing automation and digitalization projects in the NA region.
  • Adopt DFM best practices including ProKon and MTM time study techniques, in alignment with the group directive.
  • Work closely with product engineering team to develop design alternates, that delivers the best Return on Invested Capital (ROIC).
  • Lead the team to adapt global best practices for new product quoting.
  • Continuously assess the North America CAPEX footprint and provide feedback on efforts to optimize, replace or refurbish existing tools or machinery.
  • Manage the North America CAPEX outlook and support with budget prep as required.
  • Maintain production line saturation data for SMT and Backend.

  • Developing and implementing global best practices and procedures (20%)
  • Developing manufacturing processes and cost estimations for new products (40%)
  • Interfacing with 3rd party vendors (10%)
  • Evaluating and auditing capital expenditure forecasts (20%)
  • Supporting IDEA initiative (10%)



Your Qualifications:



  • BS/MS Degree in a related field: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Knowledge of assembly processes for electrical component products.
  • Experience work with various engineering software (AutoCAD/Draftsight, Solidworks, Simulation Experience, Minitab, Microsoft Suite).
  • 5+ years of experience required.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in compliance with IATF / AIAG / VDA.



Bonus If You Have:



  • Experience in automation, robotics, or high-speed, high-precision assembly.
  • Experience in assembly of electrical components or systems.
  • Experience in automotive electronics.
  • APQP Experience.
  • Experience in MOST / MTM time study techniques.
