IT Procurement Intern

Promega Corporation
United States, Wisconsin, Madison
Feb 04, 2026
Job Description

HOW WE WORK: You'll manage your own tasks while collaborating closely with the team-asking questions, communicating clearly, and treating others with respect. We expect you to embrace Promega's culture of inclusion and emotional and social intelligence, and to follow the ethical and regulatory standards that govern our business.

YOUR ROLE: You'll learn how a biotech company actually buys and manages technology-from laptops to enterprise software licenses. Working alongside our IT Procurement Specialist, you'll handle real purchasing workflows, coordinate with vendors, and keep our asset and license records accurate. This isn't a "shadow and observe" internship; you'll take on meaningful work that frees up our team to focus on strategic projects. If you're curious about IT operations, supply chain, or how business systems work together, this is a great way to find out.

CORE DUTIES:

1. Process purchase orders and requisitions for IT hardware and software.
2. Gather and compare vendor quotes to support purchasing decisions.
3. Track hardware and software assets and maintain inventory records.
4. Manage and update software license records.
5. Reconcile invoices and coordinate with vendors on orders and deliveries.
6. Support approval workflows in Freshservice.
7. Work in enterprise systems including CDW, SAP, and contract management tools.
8. Assist with documentation, reporting, and other administrative tasks as needed.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma or equivalent experience.
2. Interest in IT, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
3. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
4. Strong attention to detail and comfort working with spreadsheets and records.
5. Clear communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Enrollment in a degree program related to IT, Supply Chain, Business, or similar.
2. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
3. Interest in procurement, vendor management, or asset management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer.

2. Ability to move IT equipment and objects up to 20 pounds.

At Promega, we are committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve and creating a culture where everyone belongs. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome and encourage applications from all backgrounds, ensuring that employment decisions are made fairly and equitably.
