Job Summary Instructs students from diverse backgrounds in accounting and business courses. Uses and instructs appropriate business software including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and accounting packages such as QuickBooks and Peachtree. Develops and prepares course materials for established and emerging accounting rules, regulations, systems and technologies for in-person, hybrid, and distance learning classes. Creates and manages a business internship program. Assists and participates in curriculum development and administration at the college/district level. Administers and supports student clubs, co-curricular, and extra-curricular opportunities. Essential Functions - Supervises and instructs a diverse group of students in classroom, hybrid, and/or online settings in accordance with the goals and philosophy of the college and academic division within a defined course of study at the community college level; supports student success, evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and assesses student performance; maintains grades; develops business courses and business material. -- Develops instructional materials, learning activities, and curriculum; creates and implements syllabi, course outlines, lecture and lab materials, as well as applied learning activities for assigned courses for students learning accounting, business and related courses; timely grades student work and activities; effectively utilizes course management software such as Canvas; utilizes college and departmental assessment tools; participates in continuous evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning. - Develops and administers student internship/externship programs; develops partnerships with community and local business organizations; helps students find and prepare for internships/externships - Maintains office hours to assist, advise, and mentor students; participates with and advises student-run organizations; participates in departmental, college, and district committees and projects; develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars and/or workshops; administers and maintains business textbooks, curricula, assessment and assignment materials systems; trains faculty to use student information and learning management systems - Participates and contributes to campus and district councils and committees, and industry advisory committees; provides administration and support for supports student clubs, co-curricular, and extra-curricular opportunities, assists and participates in curriculum development and administration at college/district level. Fulfills all requirements and expectations of faculty; engages in the academic life of the college; other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least three (3) years of directly- related occupational experience and skill in the field to be taught, OR Associate's degree or at least sixty four (64) semester hours from an accredited college or university and, in addition, at least five (5) years of directly related occupational experience in the field to be taught, OR Five (5) years' directly related occupational experience in the field, OR a Master's degree in the teaching field, or a Master's in any teaching field with 24 upper division and/or graduate semester hours in the teaching field, or Master's in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field Desired Qualifications
Special Working Conditions -May require possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License or other state license; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving -Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense -MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas -Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations -May require travel or work at alternate campus locations -May require numerous evenings or weekends -May require prolonged periods of standing, sitting and viewing a computer screen -Will be required to teach a varied population of students in a classroom and/or lab setting, online or hybrid, accelerated, and/or other alternative schedules and formats. -May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs.
