Major/Essential Functions


  • Mow, edge and trim turf areas, collect debris daily, weed planting beds, water trees, shrubs, flowers and turf areas, spread sand, remove snow and ice from walkways.
  • Assist in installation and maintenance of signs, barricades, fences and irrigation systems, including digging lines, replacing heads and valves.
  • Plants trees, shrubs, ground cover, using proper horticultural techniques. Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge trimmers.
  • Enforce parking rules and regulations on campus by issuing citations, immobilizing vehicles, overseeing vehicle impounds. Work special events.
  • Control parking lot entrances. Set up cones, barricades, and other parking control devices to events. Collect and properly store such equipment post-event.
  • Perform lot utilization and space inventory counts as required. Periodic maintenance of parking facilities including, cleaning, painting, etc.
  • Must know and perform basic equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for radios, computers, printers, and all landscaping equipment.
  • This is an essential personnel position. You will need to be available for on call duty for emergency maintenance or to assist in campus preparation due to inclement weather or hazardous weather conditions.
  • Assist building maintenance team with daily walk throughs of the facilities to identify any issues with building or building operation equipment and provide support on any maintenance projects when needed.
  • Any other assigned duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Ability to learn practices; materials; tools and machines used for propagating; growing and caring for lawns; shrubbery flowers and trees.

Required Qualifications

High school or equivalent and three years work experience. Additional job related education may substitute for required experience on a year for year basis.

This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to learn practices; materials; tools and machines used for propagating; growing and caring for lawns; shrubbery flowers and trees.
