| Summary of Position: |
Classroom and small group instruction for proper laboratory procedures with the Institute for Construction Education (ICET). Monitor written and practical certification examinations. This position is also responsible for developing changes to the laboratory curriculum. These are pooled, part-time positions. One or more applicants may be hired as needed on a semester-by-semester basis. The position will not exceed 28 hours per week. The anticipated start date of these positions is Fall 2026 (preferably August) and Spring 2027 (preferably January). |

| Required Work Experience: |
Five years experience working in the road construction industry related to quality control of highway construction materials. Two years experience in a classroom laboratory setting as a trainer/instructor/monitor. |

Current certifications appropriate to program assignment, such as Michigan Certified Aggregate Technician, Michigan Certified Bituminous Laboratory Technician, Level 1 and/or Michigan Certified Density Technician. |

| Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Available to travel and work at varied days and times. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Successfully interact with visitors, faculty, staff and students. Classroom and small group instruction for proper laboratory procedures. Monitor written and practical certification examinations. Stay current with industry regulations and requirements as they pertain to curriculum development. Operates a university or personal vehicle safely while carrying out job responsibilities. Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. |

| Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: |

| Skills and Abilities: |
Understanding of the Michigan Department of Transportation laboratory and testing procedures, the American Society for Testing and Materials Standards, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Standards as they apply to the construction industry. Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural, educational, socioeconomic and life experiences. |
