We are seeking an accomplished physician-leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine for our Los Angeles and Orange County, CA campuses-advancing clinical excellence and operational performance across a high-acuity oncology enterprise. Position Overview The Chair will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for a primarily clinical department that is integral to surgical oncology and complex cancer care, with faculty dedicated to perioperative excellence and improved patient outcomes. The Department currently comprises19 full-time physicians and 20 CRNAs workingacross the Duarte and Irvine campuses. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Culture
Serve as the principal physician leader for Perioperative Services, providing strategic and operational oversight, actively participating in Operating Room management committees, and partnering closely with nursing and administrative leadership to ensure seamless workflows and consistently deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. - Champion the department's mission of clinical care while driving operational efficiency and productivity.
- Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams (e.g., surgical oncology, perioperative services) to ensure seamless, patientcentered care.
- Maintain and continuously elevate standards of quality and safety in clinical and administrative practice.
Clinical Operations & Staffing
- Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of two campuses and drive performance of large, diverse teamsand creating a culture of accountability and engagement.
- Design, lead, and optimize anesthesiology staffing modelsforbusy operating roomsacrossinpatient and outpatientsettings, ensuring the right clinician at the right time for the right case.
- Monitor and oversee scheduling, room utilization, case-mix management, and throughput-driving measurable efficiency and reliability across perioperative workflows.
- Successfully recruit and retain a full complement of physicians, CRNAs, consultants, and per diemsto meet departmental needs and growth objectives.
CRNA Collaboration
- Lead and partner effectively with CRNAs, building inclusive care teams with clear scopes, evidence-based practice standards, and aligned performance goals.
- Support CRNA professional development and optimal team utilization to enhance access, safety, and patient experience.
- Leverage the existing CRNA workforce in alignment with departmental growth and service expansion plans.
Market Strategy & Trends
- Maintain adeep understanding of current marketplace trendsaffecting anesthesiology (e.g., workforce supply/demand, care model evolution, reimbursement dynamics, and technology), and translate insights intopragmatic staffing and operational strategies.
Quality, Safety & Growth
- Expand clinical volumes and sites responsibly to support programmatic and financial success, while leading quality improvement initiatives across the perioperative continuum.
- Participate in enterprise leadership for clinical operations, demonstrating comprehensive understanding of perioperative systems, metrics, and performance improvement.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base compensation range is $450,000 to $850,000 plus participation in a leadership incentive program.
