The successful candidate will provide leadership and technical expertise to identify, resolve, and eliminate quality issues and problems. Primary focus will be to work with assigned manufacturing departments on quality related issues.
BASIC PURPOSE:
|
The Lead Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing quality assurance activities for precision-machined aerospace shells and electrical/mechanical contacts. This role provides technical leadership in roaming inspections, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. The position also serves as the primary quality interface between manufacturing, engineering, and customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer specifications, and aerospace regulatory requirements
- Lead quality engineering activities for CNC-machined shells and contacts, including roaming inspection
- Define and validate inspection methods, including CMM programming, GD&T interpretation, and gauge selection
- Conduct Quality audits when appropriate and when assigned.
- Lead root cause analysis using structured methods (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, SPC)
- Drive corrective and preventive actions for nonconformances, escapes, and customer complaints
- Maintain employee time keeping and schedule overtime and vacation schedule as required by workload.
- Serve as the primary quality contact for customer quality issues, audits, and performance reviews
- Analyze quality data (SPC, scrap, yield, rework) and lead improvement initiatives
- Drive cost of poor quality (COPQ) reduction initiatives
- Support Lean and Six Sigma projects related to machining quality and inspection efficiency

Ability to lead audits, manage nonconformances, drive corrective actions, and influence cross-functional teams while upholding the highest standards of quality and product integrity in aerospace manufacturing

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
|
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience in the aerospace industry, with demonstrated expertise in precision CNC machining, GD&T, and AS9100 quality systems. Proven experience leading quality activities, supporting audits, and driving corrective actions in a machining-focused production environment. Experience with aerospace shells, contacts, or electrical connectors is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical demands of the job, bending, sitting, typing, lifting, standing, etc., Daily could be up to a total of 4-5 hours total for anyone. You must pass an annual eye exam with or without corrective lenses.
