Job Summary

The 5 South Observation Unit is a fastpaced, teamfocused environment designed to support both the Emergency Department and telemetry units. This 21bed unit provides shortterm observation for lowacuity patients to determine whether inpatient admission is needed. With strong nursetopatient ratios and a collaborative care model, this unit is an excellent fit for nurses with backgrounds in Telemetry, ED, ICU/CCU, intermediate care, or ambulatory care.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide highquality nursing care to lowacuity observation patients.

  • Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment in a fastpaced environment.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support efficient patient flow.

  • Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes in condition.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow evidencebased standards of care.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required
  • Active Kentucky RN license

  • BLS

  • ACLS

  • NIH Certification - training available

  • 12Lead EKG - training available

  • Phlebotomy
