What to Expect

As an Engineerin the SeatingEngineering Department, you will be responsible for Design Engineering from concept to End of Life,as well as problem solving of existing products.

Today'sseatingcommodities include structures, mechanisms,actuators,cushions,wire harnesses, controllers,sensors,software,trimsand so on.However, future seating solutions are not limited to these.Progression istargeted.A seat can be defined as a product which enables comfortable support forvehicularoccupants.Insome sense,a seatcan be viewed as a moving robotic structural art piece.

As an integrated part of Tesla's Vehicle Engineeringteam; you will conceptualize, design, engineer and manageSeatingSystemparts and products. You shall bepart and productresponsible.

Primarily contributing to the team with your expertise on Structural components (stampings, welding, bolted joints, castings, engineering composites, etc.).

Team members typically play dual roles as experts and polymaths. Each team member typically usestheirparticular expertiseasasuperpowerto complement the team. Youshall be part of theSeatingEngineering Team which resides withinTesla's Vehicle EngineeringGroup.

  • Problem understanding and definition
  • Concept generationand evaluation
  • Product strategy and architectureplanning
  • Negotiation, balancing and management of product attributes includingsafety,functionality,comfort,aesthetics,cost,mass,schedule,sustainability
  • Validationand optimizationthroughincluding prototype making, physicaltesting, CAE simulations, design reviews
  • 3D model and 2D drawingcreation
  • Bill of Materialscreation
  • Detaildesign includingdatum & fixation strategy, GD&T, DFM
  • Technical documentationcreation for official use andcommunication
  • Schedule and milestone management

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Evidence ofexceptionalability
  • Design engineeringexperience withdemonstrated interest in multidisciplinary engineering
  • Hands on experience where you have built something
  • Hand-sketching [one of the many engineering languages]
  • Automotive engineering with seating experience is preferredbut not mandatory
  • Organization

    Expected Compensation
    $91,600 - $164,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
