Job Description




As a Security Officer - Flex - Utilities Site in Houston, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a utilities location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver's license in the job state, supporting mobile patrol coverage and rapid response. You will provide strong customer service, clear communication, and accurate reporting while working with a team that values agility, reliability, innovation, and integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients at a utilities location by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including reporting and documenting events per post orders.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of production areas, yards, access roads, and perimeter fencing to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Control access at gates and designated entry points by checking identification, verifying visitor purpose, and following sign-in and/or sign-out procedures as required by site policy.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and/or other site systems when assigned, and communicate observed issues to operations personnel and/or supervisors.
  • Observe and report hazardous conditions, unusual activity, and maintenance concerns to appropriate site contacts, consistent with post orders and scope of assignment.
  • Complete patrol logs, incident reports, and other required documentation with clear, accurate, and timely information.
  • Maintain a professional presence while interacting with employees, contractors, drivers, and visitors, providing directions and site information as needed.
  • Support emergency response activities such as evacuations, shelter-in-place actions, and traffic control when directed, following site-specific procedures and supervisor guidance.
  • Communicate by radio and/or phone with site personnel, local responders, and Allied Universal leadership as necessary to coordinate response and provide status updates.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
