Summary
The Senior Process Engineer will provide technical process engineering support for existing packaging and filling system along with retorts, along with being heavily involved in recommending equipment for new applications. The position requires strong technical experience related to filling solutions, label applications and retorts. The individual will also be responsible for optimizing the performance, quality, and efficiency of high-speed filling and packaging lines.
Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert with the team to support the project management, automation, and performance optimization groups
- Review and specify filling and pasteurization equipment for coffee filling process
- Identify technologies to support new business requirements
- Identifying and resolving bottlenecks in the filling, retort process to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Define and develop all aspects of can and bottle filling equipment used in coffee manufacturing process
- Participate in all phases of a project from initial team meetings through pre-award support, proposal generation, installation, commissioning and start up. When necessary, specify processing equipment which meet project expectations within the time and budget restrictions of the approved project
- Provide guidance and expertise to operations packaging engineers, plant operations, project managers and other functions as necessary in the development of packaging related projects
- Ensuring all filling processes comply with food safety standards, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This includes leading root cause analysis for quality issues (CAPA, NCRs) related to the filler.
- Support the R&D Innovation team, Corporate Quality and Sales & Marketing in developing processing systems and solutions for La Colombe's customers and consumers
- Interact with operation, marketing, quality, sales, and multiple equipment suppliers
- May be assigned as project manager on specific projects as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in processing, mechanical, biochemical, or chemical engineering programs
- 7-10 years of experience in a similar engineering role
- Experience in dairy processing processes, including pasteurization, separation, etc. if desirable but not required
- Experience in processing equipment and materials related to the food and beverage industry
- Project management skills, knowledge of contract & schedule
- Knowledge in sizing pumps, piping, and other general dairy processing equipment
- Proficient in the use Microsoft Office software, Microsoft Project, CAPE, or TOPS, and Autocad
- Personal drive, decisiveness, eye for business, communication skills, excellent teamwork skills, organizational competency, and the ability to prioritize
- Must be willing to travel and may occasionally spend significant periods of time on site (may include weekends when necessary)
- May work in a site environment in the presence of heavy equipment, smoke, dust, and noise
