Description

This Senior Director, Engineering position will lead Skyworks Solutions' Wafer Foundry Technology development for all business units. The individual will report into the Executive Vice President, Chief Operations and Technology Officer of Skyworks. In this position, the individual will be responsible for roadmap alignment, technology enablement, deployment and production readiness. The ideal candidate should have deep semiconductor technology expertise, strong leadership experience, and a proven track record of delivering technologies at scale, preferably with RF focus.

Responsibilities

  • DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) for technology strategy to support all business units.
  • Define, drive and execute long-term wafer technology roadmap aligned with product roadmaps. Evaluate emerging technologies and integrate them into strategic planning.
  • Partner with DRIs from Business Units, Sourcing and Foundry to ensure that roadmap meets performance and cost goals.
  • Perform rigorous technology benchmarking including development and evaluation of characterization vehicles. Present technology options to Business Units.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with foundry partners. Drive joint development programs to enable product leadership and manage relationships, including negotiating technical scope and engagement terms.
  • Partner with design, layout, CAD, Product-Test Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, and Operations to perform end-to-end risk assessment and incorporate appropriate measures in New Technology Introduction (NTI) workflow. Execute NTI flawlessly to ensure smooth product ramps at marquis customers.
  • Evaluate and qualify new foundry processes, modules, PDKs, and design enablement flows for advanced analog/RF requirements.
  • Drive systematic yield improvements through root-cause analysis, process optimization, and cross-foundry initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow teams consisting of Modelling and Process engineers.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, data-driven decision-making, accountability, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Provide executive-level communication on technology risks, readiness, schedules, and performance metrics.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of semiconductor technology experience, with at least 5 years in technical and/or organizational leadership roles.
  • Proven success in delivering RF, analog/mixed-signal, advanced logic or specialty technologies into high-volume production.
  • Expertise in semiconductor device physics and process integration.
  • Ability to assess impact of technology on design parameters as well as chip-to-package interactions.
  • Experience managing joint development programs.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and project management skills.
  • Excellent skills to communicate at executive, technical, and customer levels.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.



The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $181,900 - $383,600 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
