What to Expect

Tesla's Cathode Advanced Manufacturing team is pioneering the development and scaling of innovative cathode materials to power next-generation battery electric vehicles. This effort includes research & development and scale-up of high-energy, low-cost cathode materials and the implementation of unique processes that shorten the path from mine to cell. As a Leadtechnician, you will play a pivotal role in supporting all laboratory operations. This includes overseeing the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of process and testing equipment; collaborating with facilities and construction teams to design and build state-of-the-art lab spaces; and ensuring strict adherence to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols, including conducting risk assessments, implementing safety training, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards to foster a secure and sustainable work environment.

In this position, you will partner closely with Tesla's cross-functional teams in cathode manufacturing, material characterization, cell testing, and beyond to orchestrate activities that enhance our supply chain efficiency, process controls, and overall product quality. Lastly, your responsibility will be spearheading cross-functional team validation efforts of cathode materials.


What You'll Do
  • Comply withcompany regulations and policies while promoting a strong safety culturein the lab
  • Collaborate with EHS on compliance, waste management, MOC, and chemical hygiene activities
  • Lead 5S and efficiency improvement initiatives in the lab
  • Conduct & document equipment install and commissioning, inspection, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Drive the creation and implementation of the preventative maintenance process to maximize uptime & asset life
  • Collaboratewith facilities and construction teams to design and buildstate-of-the-artlab spacesto comply safety code
  • Collaborate with colleagues to drive equipment performance & availability

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+years experiencein anR&Dlabenvironment
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the needs of vendors, internal maintenance andengineering teamtimelines,objectivesand goals
  • Ability to communicate clearly and interface with multiple engineering disciplines, vendors, craft experts, as well as executives
  • Must be able todemonstratemeticulous organizationaland communication skills
  • Must havea strong senseof safety and be able to work independently or with others

    Expected Compensation
    $24.40 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
