SUMMARY

Ajax Building Company is seeking a skilled Carpenter to support the execution of high-quality construction projects across the Southeast. This role plays a critical part in bringing projects to life-translating plans into precise, well-built structures that meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and craftsmanship.

Working closely with field leadership, the Carpenter will contribute to daily site operations by interpreting drawings, preparing materials, and constructing structural and finish elements. This is an opportunity to build on hands-on experience while working alongside experienced field teams on complex, impactful projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and layout requirements
  • Layout, cut, assemble, and install structures and fixtures using hand and power tools
  • Verify accuracy and trueness of structures using levels, squares, and other measuring tools
  • Set and secure structures in place, making adjustments as needed to meet specifications and building codes
  • Select and prepare appropriate materials for each task
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards
  • Coordinate with foremen, superintendents, and other trades to support efficient workflow
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 4 years of construction experience with a strong focus in carpentry
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; apprenticeship training a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans
  • Proficiency with standard carpentry tools and equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety requirements
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow direction from field leadership

Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to perform the following tasks:

  • Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers.
  • See well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height.
  • Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
  • Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Schedule may include overtime as needed to support project demands
