The Opportunity:

Located at the UCF Downtown campus, the Financial Aid Coordinator I serves as the main point of contact for financial aid inquiries for prospective and current UCF students at the UCF Downtown Campus and the Rosen College of Hospitality Management. This position will review electronic processing reports, assess financial aid program eligibility, and will contact students, departments, agencies, and technical staff to resolve application processing problems. As part of the downtown enrollment services team, this position also supports orientation, outreach, and recruitment events for the downtown campus.

Responsibilities:



  • Provide prospective and current student appointments and walk-in availability.

  • Utilize multiple methods of communication (e.g., phone, email, in-person and virtual appointments) to provide comprehensive support and counseling to students and parents regarding the financial aid process.

  • Advise on availability and resources of financial assistance including Pell Grant, Campus-Based aid, Stafford loan, scholarships, and other programs.

  • Interpret to students the policies, processes, and regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs. Analyze and evaluate students' financial needs.

  • Perform and understand needs analysis procedures/processes.

  • Review financial aid application documents (verification) for accuracy and completeness.

  • Act as a liaison between the Student Financial Assistance (SFA) Office and the downtown campus. Responsibilities may include attending SFA staff meetings, information sharing, and program and training coordination between departments.

  • Serve as a resource to other UCF Downtown Campus professional, administrative, and clerical staff members in interpreting financial aid regulations, policies, procedures, and decisions.

  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of all federal, state, and institutional sources of financial aid and regulations.

  • Manage and oversee the allocation and administration of financial literacy and student engagement grant funds for the downtown campus. Responsibilities include staff outreach regarding funding opportunities, evaluating and approving funding requests, monitoring budget activity, and preparing reports for the grant funder.

  • Coordinate and administer downtown campus scholarship programs, including student communications, application review and award decisions, cohort data tracking, responding to student inquiries, and processing required documentation.

  • Develop and maintain general knowledge of UCF Undergraduate Admissions processes and deadlines to support student inquiries.

  • Support downtown campus orientation programming with presentations when needed.

  • Represent the UCF Downtown Campus in various outreach and recruitment events both at the university and in the local community.

  • Develop, publicize, and conduct workshops, seminars, etc. at secondary schools, state colleges, or other community events/gatherings to promote and explain financial aid programs to prospective students and their parents.

  • Provide financial literacy programming for UCF special populations and cohorts.




Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in financial aid counseling or student financial services in a higher education setting.

  • Experience using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for tracking awards, preparing reports, and managing budgets.

  • Experience with coordinating scholarship programs, reviewing applications, making award decisions, and maintaining cohort data.

  • Familiarity with software for managing student records and financial aid data (PeopleSoft, Slate, etc.).




The most successful candidates will possess the following:



  • Ability to problem-solve and seek resolutions to a variety of student issues.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills including presenting experience.




Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $17.64 - $19.63 The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
