Job Description

Pay Range: $129,000.00 - $149,000.00 / year

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Manage site and area environmental, health and safety programs. Ensure regulatory compliance, develop and implement continuous improvement programs, and achieve safety and environmental goals.
Manage CA Best Practice waste programs, including waste handling, disposal, inspection, and auditing processes to ensure regulatory compliance and environmental impact minimization.



Responsibilities:

General EHS Responsibilities

  • Manage site EHS personnel and oversite of day-to-day EHS programs. *
  • Develop, implement, and communicate EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance and continuously improve site and area EHS performance in diverse work environments.
  • Assist in managing ISO 14001 programs.
  • Track and report EHS performance.
  • Partner and collaborate with local, regional, and corporate EHS teams.
  • Partner and collaborate with local Operations & admin. personnel

Waste Program Responsibilities

  • Manage waste programs to ensure proper handling and disposal of waste materials, including medical waste,
  • Coordinate with EHS, management, and location personnel as necessary.
  • Manage waste inspection and audit programs.
  • Schedule and conduct site waste inspections and audits in coordination with EHS, Operations, State representatives, and location personnel.
  • Prepare site audit reports and annual comprehensive reports.
  • Address audit findings and assign and track corrective actions through completion. Improve programs as necessary to prevent recurrence
  • Manage 3rd party waste contracts and site personnel.
  • Track program performance, metrics, and present results as necessary.
  • Maintain waste records and prepare and submit all required regulatory reports.
  • Manage waste training programs and monitor training completion and effectiveness.
  • Develop, modify, and implement procedures, programs, and training materials as necessary to maintain Best Practices and continuously improve program effectiveness.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree and 5 to 7 years work experience in the EH&S field with a focus on managing hazardous wastes and materials. CHMM certification preferred.
  • Experience managing waste programs in compliance with 40 CFR, 49CFR, and CCR Title 22.
  • Waste program inspection and auditor experience a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize numerous tasks and deadlines across multiple locations.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.) and ability to learn new software.
  • Accountable, self-driven, and ability to learn & continuously improve established programs.
  • Organized, attention to detail, dependable, and team player.
  • Ability to perform all other EH&S related duties as assigned.
  • CHMM or CSP preferred.
  • Valid CA driver's license and ability to travel within CA.

Required Training:

  • Hazmat/DOT/IATA/RCRA certification training

Preferred Training:

  • CSP or ASP * CHMM * ISO 14001 implementation and auditor
