DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will assess applicants' physical and driving qualifications, as well as the mechanical state of their vehicles, to ensure adherence to safety standards. This evaluation process involves conducting various vision tests, including telebinocular and color perception assessments. You will also administer knowledge examinations for both non-commercial and commercial driver licenses to confirm that candidates have a comprehensive understanding of the Vehicle Code and traffic signs. Additionally, pre-trip inspections, skills assessments, and driving tests for both license types will be executed following departmental protocols. During these evaluations, applications, registrations, and permits will be carefully examined for any discrepancies or fraudulent activity, while vehicle features will be evaluated to determine the appropriate testing procedures. Finally, a detailed inspection of motor vehicles will be conducted to verify the presence of valid inspection stickers, operational lights, windshield wipers, and other essential mechanical components. Additionally, verifying the authenticity of various documents, such as applications, birth certificates, Social Security cards, marriage certificates, court records, proof of residency, and materials issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. State Department, as well as foreign documents, is a critical responsibility of this role. - Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position will require overtime and travel
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:
This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application. This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five year period immediately preceding employment. All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment. This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
