Job Summary
The Clinic Program Manager serves as a liaison, subject matter expert and leader between Sterile Processing and the Emergency Department, over 150 ambulatory clinics, inpatient units, research labs, and other internal and external auxiliary departments that rely upon the services of Sterile Processing to support clinical needs.
This position is a visible role that requires close collaboration with numerous stakeholders to ensure compliance, disseminate education, identify opportunities, and execute improvements relating to equipment and sterile processing activities. Leads, administers service agreements and is responsible for daily functions under general direction of the Sterile Processing Manager and in coordination with the Educator(s) ensuring that established infection control practices are consistent, communicated and adhered to. Oversees activities related to the exchange of items requiring sterilization from patient units, ambulatory clinics, and other areas within the organization. Incumbent is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day activity related to the reprocessing of clinic and unit instrumentation and acting as the liaison for current practices across the UC Davis Health enterprise. - Current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM or SPD Technician Certification (CSPDT) from CBSPD.
- Minimum five (5) years demonstrated experience working as a sterile processing technician in a Sterile Processing Department.
- Two (2) years sterile processing experience in a management, supervisory and/or educator role is required.
- Demonstrated experience supervising, leading direct reports including setting job expectations, managing work performance and coaching.
- Demonstrated experience practicing and implementing operational practices according to AAMI Standards and Guidelines.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow Manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU's), and organization and departmental policies and procedures.
- Adapts to change and works in collaboration with others.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills interacting with clients to provide excellent, timely and collaborative customer service to clients.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize workload and meet deadlines under changing conditions to carry out project assignments in an efficient and timely manner.
- Write clear and concise summaries, correspondence, and other communications appropriate for the target audience.
- Must be able to use email, read and create charts, compose error-free, grammatically readable documents and written instructions, policies, procedures.
- Solid oral, interpersonal, active listening, and diplomacy skills.
- Analytical, problem solving, critical thinking skills to conduct research, solve problems and skill to research, interpret and apply policies, standards and industry guidelines for compliance and consistent practice.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and web-based applications and databases.
- Sound judgement to be able to make independent decisions, assess and act on situations with limited information.
- Adaptability, flexibility and ability to maintain composure during stressful and/or adverse conditions.

Department Overview Sterile Processing is a department within Perioperative Services that supports operating rooms by cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing surgical instrumentation, flexible scope and case cart assembly. The Sterile Processing unit also supports Patient Care Services, Ambulatory Services and the Primary Care Network: within the health system by cleaning, disinfecting reusable equipment and the cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization of surgical instrumentation used by these services. Sterile Processing cleans and restocks all emergency crash carts; PAPR supply cart, airway boxes and ICU transport bags. Sterile Processing manages fiscal. material, and human resources to support the planning and coordination of surgical care and other patient care in the hospital and clinics. POSITION INFORMATION
