Surgical Technician - First Assist Reston, VA Pay From: $42 Per Hour MUST: The Surgical Technician or Surgical First Assist must have the following experience: 2 plus years of experience as a Surgical Technician Surgical Tech certification or willing to obtain it in the first 60 days of hire Thorough working knowledge of aseptic technique Ability to pass instruments and sterile supplies to physicians Ability to suture incisions Apply dressings Clean and stock rooms Ability to arrange surgical supplies and instruments Knowledge and administration of medications BLS certification DUTIES: Duties of the Surgical Technician or Surgical First Assist include but are not limited to the following: Passing of instruments and sterile supplies to physicians and keeping accurate count of the instruments Assisting surgical team to dress for surgery Suturing incisions made by surgeon Applying dressings and appropriate garments to surgical sites Preparing and preserving specimens obtained during surgery and completing appropriate paperwork for these specimens Operation of the lights, suction machines and other equipment as needed during surgery Transporting the patient to their support person's car Cleaning and restocking the operating room for the next surgery Keeping accurate measurements of all tissue/fat removed from the patient during surgery Keeping an accurate record of the amount of local anesthetic injected into the patient during surgery Accurately close out invoice as procedures are completed Assisting the Material Manager on an as needed basis Responsible for the inventory and notifying correct personal for ordering Quadrant is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
