What to Expect
Tesla is looking for an Architectural designer to join the Design & Engineering Team of the infrastructure Organization. The architectural designer will be responsible for the design of industrial manufacturing, and workplace facilities. This is a full-time position that will support projects across multiple Tesla locations.
What You'll Do
- Perform feasibility and techno-economic studies on capital projects to support leadership's decision making and meet aggressive budget goals
- Collaborate with various design teams, and liaise with manufacturing, construction, and facility stakeholders to understand the project requirements, and deliver fully coordinated Basis of Design documents
- Collaborate with the estimating team preparing test-fits and bill of quantities to facilitate estimates to a sufficient level of accuracy required for project funding
- Under the guidance of the architectural lead, support the design effort by producing drawings and deliverables for Permit/Construction, including plans, sections, details, schedules, layouts, calculations, and specifications for projects of various sizes and complexity
- Interface with external design consultants during bid and project execution as needed to ensure that design and specifications meet the project requirements
- Typical scope may include retrofitting or modifying existing buildings, designing new buildings or new additions
- Participate effectively during drawing approval meetings and inspections with local authority officials and attend tests and special inspections to confirm compliance with the applicable codes and standards
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or equivalent experience
- 5+ years' work experience in large industrial, commercial, institutional, facilities (manufacturing, refineries, data centers, hospitals, college campuses, etc.)
- Experience with at least two $50M+ projects, (preferably with on both "owner" and "contractor" side). Registered as a certified Professional Architect (RA) is not required
- Advanced knowledge of architectural design principles and applicable codes, design guides and standards related to the discipline
- Must prioritize and manage heavy workload on multiple projects to ensure high quality and productivity
- Ability to develop architectural deliverables using state of the art 3D modeling software, especially Revit
- Collaborate with other discipline leaders to develop and improve project workflows and standards to ensure that each deliverable is fully coordinated
