Summary:

The Substance Use Treatment Clinical Manager plays a key leadership role within a multidisciplinary care team, overseeing staff involved in delivering substance use treatment services. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality care while managing the day-to-day operations of the program. In addition to supervisory duties, the Clinical Manager actively participates in direct client care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and coordination for the treatment team, fostering collaboration and team development.
  • Oversee clinical operations, including workload delegation, supervision, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance and quality of clinical documentation in alignment with organizational standards.
  • Support program sustainability through effective service utilization, caseload management, and achievement of financial goals.
  • Deliver direct clinical care, including:
    • Individual intake and psychosocial assessments
    • Clinical triage and care coordination within medication-assisted treatment programs
    • Group facilitation in an intensive outpatient setting
    • Individual, couples, and family counseling as needed
    • Comprehensive discharge planning and aftercare coordination
  • Maintain communication with community resources to support continuity of care.
  • Provide services in a manner appropriate to the age, language, and needs of clients and their families.

    All clinicians are expected to function as active, collaborative members of the care team, contributing to excellence in client outcomes and program success.

    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    1. Education: Master's degree in Social Work or Clinical Counseling from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Ability to teach basic social work/clinical counseling principles and applications.
    2. License/Certifications: Maine State licensure to practice as a LCSW,or LCPC is required. Maine State licensure to practice as a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) strongly preferred. Maine State licensure to practice as a LADC and CADC as needed. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation if applicable.
    3. Experience: 2+ years of related work experience in a substance abuse , health or mental health setting preferred; depending on client population to be serviced, desired work experience may vary. Prior experience with clinical methods and techniques used in individual, family and group therapy as related to substance use/co-occurring disorders is required.
    4. Knowledge of social work/ counseling theories, therapies and techniques, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well as principles of social welfare are required.
