A Brief Overview Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a skilled and motivated Software Developer to join the Data Trust Office (DTO), a specialized team within the Data and Analytics (DnA) organization, which operates under CHOP's Digital Technology Services division. This role offers a unique opportunity for an accomplished developer with a passion for software development and engineering excellence to help shape innovation within CHOP's complex and evolving data ecosystem.
In this role, your innovation in software development and automation will be central to advancing CHOP's commitment to excellence in data governance. Collaborating with a dedicated team in the Data Trust Office (DTO), you will help ensure secure, high-quality, and accessible data that drives meaningful impact in pediatric healthcare. You will play a vital role in expanding and optimizing our data governance tools, developing scalable best practices, and enhancing data stewardship and automation capabilities across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate is an experienced developer who thrives in dynamic, mission-driven environments and brings hands-on expertise across the system development life cycle, programming languages, and cloud platforms. You are comfortable working independently while serving as a technical resource for your peers, and you take pride in building reliable, efficient data systems that empower users and protect data integrity. This department works approximately 80% remotely, 20% on site in our Philadelphia offices on an as-needed basis.
What you will do
- The responsibilities of a Software Developer encompass tasks such as:
- Design and implement internal process improvements including automation, data delivery optimization, and scalable design.
- Develop and maintain complex code bases using industry-standard programming languages.
- Modify existing applications and build new solutions to meet evolving user requirements.
- Create and execute formal change implementation plans and testing protocols
- Maintain documentation such as design specifications, flowcharts, and technical guides.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior developers and team members.
- Evaluate structured and unstructured data to design appropriate data governance and cataloging solutions.
- Collaborate on ETL processes using scripting languages and partner with data science team to solution on data quality monitoring solutions
- Promote and enforce enterprise data governance standards and development best practices.
- Build infrastructure for ingesting and processing data from diverse sources using SQL and other technologies.
- Develop analytics tools to extract actionable insights and support operational efficiency.
- Recommend platforms, frameworks, and integrations to enhance system performance.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills in handling complex datasets.
- Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Support and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Information Systems Required
Experience Qualifications
- At least four (4) years Application Development and/or Integration development experience Required and
- At least two (2) years Working in a Healthcare environment Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Experience in Python and SQL (required). (Required proficiency)
- Intermediate critical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. (Required proficiency)
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office products. (Required proficiency)
- Cloud platforms and intermediate documentation skills. (Required proficiency)
- Excellent communication and teamwork. (Required proficiency)
- Meeting facilitation and documentation skills. (Required proficiency)
- Relationship building and collaboration. (Required proficiency)
- Knowledgeable in ML concepts to drive automation. (Required proficiency)
- Proficiency in programming languages, web services, APIs, web and mobile development, application domain knowledge, and integration technologies. (Required proficiency)
- Experience with Snowflake and cloud-based data solutions such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (preferred). (Preferred proficiency)

$89,840.00 - $114,550.00 Annually
