Call/Holidays:No call * No holidays
SignOn Bonus:$15,000 for eligible candidates

Position Overview


Duke University Hospital is seeking aCardiac MR Technologistto join our nationally recognized Imaging Services team. This role supports advancedcardiac MRI proceduresin a highacuity academic medical center known for clinical excellence, innovation, and research. The Cardiac MR Technologist performscomplex, specialized MRI proceduresusing highfield strength magnets, collaborating closely with radiologists, cardiologists, physicists, and researchers to deliver exceptional patient care and advance cardiac imaging techniques.

Key Responsibilities


Clinical & Technical Practice



  • Perform advancedCardiac MRI examinationsusing highfield strength magnets and related imaging equipment.
  • Screen patients thoroughly forMRI safetyprior to procedures.
  • Position patients using appropriate immobilization and protective equipment to ensure image quality and patient safety.
  • Operate and loadpower injectorsfor contrast administration; start IVs and administer contrast media per protocol and physician direction.
  • Evaluate MRI scans fortechnical quality, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Process, collate, label, and archive images in the Image Archival System (PACS).
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Charge procedures and supplies accurately in the EHR.


Workflow & Coordination



  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flowacrossmultiple MRI sitesas needed.(delete in red)for busy in-patient & out-patient center
  • Assist with clerical and operational functions that support efficient department workflow.


Education, Research & Innovation



  • Provideorientation and mentoringfor new MRI technologists.
  • Educate and trainstudent technologists.
  • Assist with the education of physicians (interns, residents, fellows, and attendings) as applicable.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and physicists todevelop and refine cardiac MR protocolsunique to Duke University Health System.
  • Supportclinical research initiatives, performing scans using research protocols.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in100+ Complex CardiacMRI protocolsacross the health systemand teach proper application to technologists, physicians, and researchers.


Professional Practice



  • Support patients' physical and psychological needs throughout the MRI experience.
  • Perform other duties incidental to the role as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education



  • Graduate of or completion of a program meeting eligibility requirements for MRI registry/certification
    OR
  • Currently holds the required MRI registry or certification


Experience



  • Level I:Must obtain ARRT or ARMRIT MRI certification within 18 months of employment
  • Level II:Minimum of1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist and meetthe requirements of the clinical ladder
  • Level III:Minimum of2 years of experience within the specialty modality, and meet the requirements of the clinical ladder


Licensure & Certification



  • One of the following is required:




    • ARRT (R), (T), or (N)
    • CNMT
    • ARDMS
    • Registryeligible for Magnetic Resonance (MR)




  • ARRT or ARMRIT MRI certification required within 18 months of hire
  • BLS certification required
