Physical Security Department

The North America Physical Security Department is focused on delivering a best-in-class security program aligned with Vantage's vision of becoming the leading industry physical security data center provider. Our mission is to safeguard our data center environments through comprehensive, scalable, and standardized physical security processes that deter threats, promote rapid incident response, ensure regulatory compliance, and support Vantage's rapid growth.

The department leads all physical security efforts across North America, ensuring that every Vantage data center operates within a consistent, scalable, and standardized security framework. Our teams design and implement physical security programs, systems, and processes that deter threats, strengthen site resiliency, and enable rapid response to incidents. We partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Construction, IT, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that physical security is embedded into every phase of the asset lifecycle and supports Vantage's rapid expansion.

Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Physical Security Threat Management is a leadership role responsible for the design, launch, and ongoing management of the organization's physical security threat management program. This role will establish a scalable, intelligence-led security function that proactively identifies, assesses, and mitigates threats to personnel, assets, operations, and facilities across a rapidly growing data center portfolio.

This position serves as both a people leader and a program architect. The Senior Manager will build and lead a threat management team while developing the processes, tools, and partnerships required to support executive decision-making, incident prevention, and enterprise risk reduction. The role works cross-functionally with Physical Security Operations, Executive Protection, Security Monitoring Center (SMC), Legal, Human Resources, EHS, IT, and external partners, including law enforcement and intelligence vendors.

This role requires a high degree of trust, autonomy, and accountability. The individual must be comfortable operating in ambiguity, supporting senior leadership, and managing sensitive information. Success in this role depends on proactive engagement, disciplined execution, and the ability to function as a force multiplier for the Physical Security organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Threat Management Program Development and Leadership

  • Design, launch, and mature a comprehensive physical security threat management program aligned to the organization's risk profile and growth strategy.

  • Establish intelligence collection, analysis, dissemination, and escalation frameworks focused on physical, geopolitical, insider, activist, criminal, and emerging threats impacting data center operations.

  • Develop intelligence requirements, analytical standards, and reporting cadences to support tactical, operational, and strategic security decision-making.

  • Define key performance indicators and metrics to measure program effectiveness, threat trends, and risk reduction outcomes.

  • People Leadership and Team Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing threat management team, including analysts and senior analysts, fostering a culture of accountability, rigor, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, training paths, and career development plans for team members.

  • Oversee workload prioritization, quality control, and analytical tradecraft standards across the team.

  • Threat Assessment and Risk Management

  • Lead the identification, assessment, and monitoring of credible threats to data center campuses, corporate offices, executives, and critical operations.

  • Produce high-quality intelligence products, including threat assessments, executive briefs, risk advisories, and incident support analysis.

  • Support workplace violence prevention efforts through behavioral threat assessment and coordination with Human Resources and Legal.

  • Provide intelligence support for major events, executive travel, crisis response, and elevated-risk activities.

Operational Integration and Incident Support

  • Integrate threat management workflows with the Security Monitoring Center and physical security operations to enable timely detection and response.

  • Provide real-time intelligence support during incidents, protests, suspicious activity, or crisis events.

  • Participate in after-action reviews and continuously refine intelligence processes based on operational feedback.

Technology, Tools, and External Partnerships

  • Own the identification, evaluation, selection, and lifecycle management of physical security threat management platforms, applications, and analytical tools.

  • Define functional requirements and use cases for threat management technologies in partnership with Physical Security Operations, the Security Monitoring Center, IT, Legal, and Privacy stakeholders.

  • Lead vendor evaluations, proof-of-concept efforts, and implementation planning for threat management solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with enterprise architecture.

  • Establish governance, access controls, and data-handling standards for all threat management tools to ensure lawful, ethical, and privacy-compliant use.

  • Serve as the primary business owner for threat management applications, including roadmap development, enhancement prioritization, and performance measurement.

  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies and approved intelligence or threat management partners.

Governance, Compliance, and Ethics

  • Ensure the threat management program operates in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies.

  • Develop governance frameworks, standard operating procedures, and documentation to support audit readiness and enterprise risk management.

  • Promote ethical intelligence collection and analysis practices, with appropriate safeguards for privacy and civil liberties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in intelligence studies, security management, criminal justice, international relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Eight or more years of progressive experience in threat management, physical security, intelligence analysis, or related disciplines.

  • Demonstrated experience building and leading intelligence or security teams.

  • Proven ability to design and operationalize threat management programs within complex, multi-site environments.

  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with experience briefing senior executives.

  • This role may require periodic travel and availability outside standard business hours in support of incidents or crisis response.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting data centers, critical infrastructure, technology companies, or large-scale corporate environments.

  • Prior experience working with or within government intelligence, military, or law enforcement organizations.

  • Familiarity with Security Operations Centers or Security Monitoring Centers.

  • Relevant certifications such as CPP, PSP, PCI, or intelligence-specific credentials.

Additional Details

  • Salary Range: $145,000 - $155,000 (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • This position is eligible for company benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D, short and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program that includes company match, and many other additional voluntary benefits.

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
