Job Title: Receptionist

Duration: 1 month contract on w2 with the possibility of extension.

Location: Ann Arbor MI 48105

Pay Rate: $19.00/hr. on w2 without benefits.

Shift Hours: Monday - Thursday, 12:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Position Summary:

  • The Temporary Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for students, visitors, and campus partners at the Wadhams Veteran Center. This role provides front-desk support, assists veteran students with basic needs and referrals, and supports office operations through administrative and document-processing tasks. Regular on-campus attendance is required. While veteran status is highly valued, it is not a mandatory requirement.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Greet students and visitors, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for veterans and their families.
  • Handle inquiries in person and by phone, directing individuals to appropriate departments, staff, or campus resources.
  • Assist veteran students with scheduling appointments with Academic Advisors and/or School Certifying Officials (SCO).
  • Support the Veterans Office with processing Certification Requests, including scanning, filing, and organizing documents in physical and digital systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling student records and sensitive information.
  • Perform general front-desk and administrative support duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of relevant office or administrative work experience.
  • Ability to adapt to peak demands and high-stress periods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and community members.
  • Ability to understand and explain veterans' benefit policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential materials appropriately.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with military benefit application and distribution processes.
  • Familiarity with veteran support services and resources.
