As a Senior Solution Engineer - Server & Cloud at Smithfield Foods, you will design, build, and implement enterprise-level server and cloud solutions across multi-region cloud and on-premise environments. You will be responsible for developing secure, scalable, and performance-oriented platforms that support current and future business needs. This role involves solving complex infrastructure challenges, creating innovative solutions for strategic and operational projects, and collaborating with IT teams, business units, and vendors. You will also play a key role in mentoring and training team members while ensuring technology standards, security, and monitoring practices are followed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Solution Design & Buildout: Design and build server and cloud solutions by collaborating with IT teams to ensure reliability, stability, performance, and future capacity as part of enterprise architecture.

  • Implementation Leadership: Provide technical expertise and leadership on implementation teams deploying new systems and operational processes aligned with strategic initiatives and approved projects.

  • Operations & Administration: Deliver advanced administration and technical support for daily operations across both on-premise and cloud platforms, ensuring seamless service delivery.

  • Technology Evaluation: Analyze, evaluate, and recommend server and cloud technologies to ensure compliance with security, scalability, and performance standards.

  • Vendor & Partner Collaboration: Leverage relationships with external service providers to optimize performance, manage costs, and drive operational excellence.

  • Research & Innovation: Conduct research and evaluate new enterprise technologies, processes, and upgrades to identify solutions that meet performance, scalability, and budgetary requirements.

  • Strategy & Governance: Participate in IT strategy, governance, and process management by designing solutions that meet evolving requirements and integrate with existing infrastructure.

  • Problem-Solving & Trend Analysis: Apply advanced problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues proactively, preventing potential disruptions to business productivity.

  • Capacity & Performance Planning: Assess growth and project requirements for capacity planning and communicate forecasts to I&O leadership for financial and resource planning.

  • Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of server and cloud services, including design specifications, standards, and training resources for IT teams.

  • Leadership: Drives a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee coaching.

WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Technical Expertise: Recognized and established technical knowledge with significant hands-on experience in enterprise design, build, and administration of server and cloud platforms (Azure & AWS a plus).

  • Platform Administration: Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows and Linux administration (Red Hat Linux a plus), hyperconverged solutions, and enterprise-level infrastructure management.

  • Tools & Technologies: Skilled in Active Directory, ADFS, SCCM, VMware, Dell VxRail, Veeam, and Red Hat Satellite Server; experience with orchestration and automation tools such as Red Hat Ansible preferred.

  • Cloud Environments: Experience working with multi-cloud enterprise environments, with strong understanding of advanced capabilities and cost structures of major providers (Azure and AWS).

  • Operations & Problem-Solving: Strong knowledge of infrastructure operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance, with the ability to quickly identify root causes, deliver efficient solutions, and mitigate risks.

  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving technologies, learn new platforms and tools, and work independently in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

  • Leadership & Collaboration: Demonstrated informal leadership skills and ability to partner effectively with teams such as Network, Security, and Enterprise Architecture.

  • Business Acumen: Ability to analyze, translate, and define business requirements into scalable technical solutions that align with organizational needs.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, service-oriented style.

  • Travel Requirement: Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
