The Corporate Supply Chain Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Application Analyst I-Supply Chain Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).

The Application Analyst I-Supply Chain EDI is responsible for the management, maintenance, and optimization of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes within UHS Supply Chain department. This role involves ensuring the accurate and efficient exchange of data with suppliers, distributors, and other partners. The EDI Analyst will be responsible for system configuration, partner onboarding, data mapping, troubleshooting, triaging exceptions, reporting, resolving data discrepancies, compliance adherence, and driving continuous improvement in EDI workflows to enhance supply chain efficiency and reduce operational costs and item level discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities include:

EDI Management and Development:

  • Manage and maintain the organization's EDI systems and software, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
  • Lead the onboarding process for new EDI trading partners, including establishing communication protocols, mapping data formats, and conducting thorough testing. Develop, implement, and maintain data maps and translation rules between internal systems (e.g., ERP) and external partner formats
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Contracting, Procurement, IT, Finance, Logistics) and external trading partners to ensure seamless EDI operations and resolve any data exchange issues and exceptions around part numbers, pricing, UOM etc.
  • Ensure all EDI Processes comply with relevant healthcare industry regulations, including data privacy and security standards.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to optimize EDI workflows, automate manual processes, and improve data accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for EDI processes, data maps, and trading partner agreements.
  • Provide training and support to internal users on EDI-related processes and tools. Stay current with industry best practices, emerging EDI technologies, and relevant regulatory changes.
  • Generate reports and analyze EDI data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement and work with other teams including contracting, Purchasing, Process Improvement and Finance to reduce exceptions around Price, Part Number, Contracts and UOM etc.
  • Work with Vendor community closely to resolve any disputes around pricing, part number, UOM exceptions. Define processes with vendors to handle discontinued items.

Maintenance and Support:

  • Ensure that data is available to decision makers through the created reports and dashboards, as well as self-service methods.
  • Monitor daily EDI transactions, identify and resolve errors and discrepancies in a timely manner, and escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Provides technical guidance to business ad-hoc report developers on appropriate usage of the data tools.
  • Stays current with the needs and operations of the EDI; provides recommendations on current design gaps and suggests opportunities to improve reporting and EDI solutions.
  • Collaborate with trading partners to resolve issues, validate data, and ensure proper EDI processes.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of EDI system upgrades and enhancements. Provides support as needed for software patches and upgrades across all existing Supply chain applications.
  • Knowledge of maintenance or enhancement issues assigned by the UHS Customer Support Center.
  • Manages systems that facilitate electronic data interchange (EDI), ensuring smooth and accurate data exchange between companies and departments.

Administration and Oversight:

  • Provides technical support, assistance and guidance to other team members as required.
  • Keeps management well informed of activities, needs and issues.
  • Tracks on-going work items using work management tools. Effectively train other analysts in performance of their duties as required.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in managing and supporting EDI systems and processes, preferably within the Supply Chain or healthcare industry. Experience working in procurement and understating operations around purchasing/contracting leading to EDI transactions.
  • Strong understanding of EDI standards (e.g.,850, 855, 856, 810) and communication protocols
  • Proven experience in data mapping, translation, and troubleshooting EDI transactions.
  • Experience working with EDI software and platforms (software experience preferred in GHX B2B Integrator/application)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and their integration with EDI.
  • Knowledge of healthcare supply chain processes (e.g., procurement, order processing, invoicing, shipping).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with specific healthcare EDI transaction sets (e.g., 850 Purchase Order, 855 Purchase Order Acknowledgment, 810 Invoice, 856 Advance Ship Notice).
  • Experience with API integration concepts.
  • Project management and troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of procurement and contracting operations is preferred within healthcare.

***Off hours and on-call support is expected.***
