Location: Branford, CT
Status: FLSA Non-Exempt (hourly)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Read and interpret analog and digital electrical circuit schematics and printed circuit board layouts for prototype circuit creation and debugging.

  • Convert electrical schematics provided by engineering to prototype test hardware using surface mount components in an expeditious manner with minimal supervision.

  • Provide general electronics and mechanical developmental testing and support for the research and engineering department.

  • Work to internally written test plans and acceptance test procedures, or to customer or Government documentation.

  • Perform Failure Analysis / Debugging / Problem Solving on various products and prototypes.

  • Work with electronics test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, soldering tools, data acquisition test boxes (RS-232/485), environmental chambers for testing and debugging.

  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of hi-tech products with unsurpassed attention to detail.

  • Operate equipment (production and engineering research) in the engineering laboratory.

  • Participate in training as required.

  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 20 lbs.

  • Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations.

  • To conform with US export regulations and ITAR 120.15 and EAR Part 772, incumbents for this role should be eligible for any required authorizations from the US government.

  • Personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.



Education and Experience:



  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associates in Electronics Technology, Electronics Technician Certificate or equivalent desired.

  • At least two years' experience performing electronics testing, engineering testing, or certification testing for new products.

  • Must have prior exposure to electronics testing methodologies and practices.



Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • General knowledge of general electronics circuit theory (basic circuit laws, OpAmp theory, communication protocols, power supplies) and circuit elements (resistors, capacitors, inductors, OpAmps).

  • Familiar with the following electronics test equipment: multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, soldering tools, data acquisition test boxes (RS-232/485) for testing and debugging.

  • Able to work independently, under the general guidance of the Research and Development Manager, for such tasks as soldering, prototype circuit creation, running calibrations, debugging and maintaining test equipment.

  • Prior work (basic architecture, programming, debugging) with in-circuit microcontrollers a plus.

  • Able to read, interpret, and understand electrical circuits, component datasheets, and general analog and digital circuitry discrete components.

  • Able to operate all standard lab equipment or learn how to operate it from reading manuals.

  • Must be able to use computers and laptops; must be able to navigate testing software or programs.

  • Must be detail oriented and able to perform work with complete accuracy.



Physical Demands:



  • Some lifting, moving instrumentation, performing tests in various areas of the facility required.

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility.



Work Environment:



  • Work performed in a combination of office and manufacturing setting.

  • Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.



This position requires either a US Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-US Person who is eligible to obtain the required export authorization.

To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
