Overview
Aquent is proud to partner with a leading organization in the energy sector, dedicated to powering communities and driving innovation. This company is at the forefront of delivering essential services, committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement. We are seeking a dynamic individual to join their team and make a significant impact by shaping the learning journey of their workforce, ensuring critical knowledge transfer and skill development across vital projects.
The Role - 100% remote** PST hours - located in California is preferred (for occasional onsite needs, such as recording device installation videos)
We are seeking a Training Specialist who is more than just a content developer-we need a "Technical Puzzle Solver." This role is designed for a high-level analyst who can take massive amounts of raw technical data, shifting system requirements, and evolving project documentation, and distill them into clear, role-based workflows. This is a high-autonomy, development-heavy role; it is NOT a soft-skills facilitator or generalist trainer position.
Key Responsibilities
- Complex Source Analysis: Review large volumes of source documentation, functional specifications, and test scripts. Extract key information from recordings and demos with limited access to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Curriculum Development: Design and develop end-to-end training deliverables (PPTs, job aids, user guides, e-learning) based specifically on systems implementation workflows.
- Navigating Ambiguity: Proactively track system changes in a weekly-evolving environment. You will be expected to manage shifting information and anticipate training gaps independently.
- Consultative Partnership: Act as a consultant to the business. Manage client expectations, challenge assumptions, and provide expert recommendations rather than acting as an "order-taker."
- Train-the-Trainer (T3): Lead T3 sessions to prepare delivery teams. (Note: This role focuses on development and T3; it does not involve live end-user training).
Required Qualifications
- Systems Focus: Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically designing and developing systems or technical course materials (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, or proprietary enterprise software).
- Analytical Rigor: Proven ability to synthesize information from various sources and translate complex technical architecture into user-level tasks.
- Independence: A "self-starter" mindset with a demonstrated ability to work without step-by-step guidance in a fast-paced environment.
- Instructional Design Toolkit: Proficiency in ADDIE/SAM methodologies and at least one eLearning tool (Articulate Storyline/Rise, Captivate, or Camtasia).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Business, Technical Writing, or a related field.
Preferred Skills
- Experience within the Utility industry or a similarly regulated environment.
- Experience developing training within an Agile software development lifecycle.
- Proficiency in Visio for process mapping and SharePoint for document management.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- The Analyst: You are not a generalist. Your portfolio is built on technical systems, not leadership or soft-skills training.
- The User Advocate: You don't get bogged down in system architecture; you focus on what the learner needs to do to be successful in their role.
- The Proactive Consultant: You don't wait for a hand-off. You hunt down the information you need and bring recommendations to the table.
