About the Role We are looking for a Proposal Writer able to draft, edit and refine text portions of AVIAN proposals ensuring they are clear, compliant, and compelling.

Serve as a writer for proposal technical and management volumes primarily in support of Defense, Aerospace and other government agency opportunities
- Research, organize, draft, and edit technical proposals
- Draft compelling and compliant technical content
- Gather information in a variety of ways such as brainstorming sessions, white-boarding, interviews, research, consolidation of previously developed written materials, and translate it into original text
- Edit and refine written or oral inputs from technical Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Sector Leads into winning proposal content
- Tailor/re-purpose archived content to meet similar requirements
- Draft responses to Government Requests for Information (RFI) or Sources Sought (SS), working either independently using archived information or conducting research, or as part of a team with an assigned technical SME
- Support AVIAN Director of Proposals and the proposal team throughout the proposal process
- Assist in proposal strategy development; define, and help articulate "win themes", strengths, and discriminators
- Create/Revise/Tailor proposal artifacts
- Adhere to proposal schedule and deadlines
- Ensure that AVIAN proposals are grammatically correct and maintain a consistent tone or voice
- Identify and edit the most relevant past performance examples and resumes
- Participate in proposal phases, activities, and milestones including the kickoff meeting, teammate meetings, data calls, brainstorming sessions, proposal reviews
- Assist in execution of Color Team recovery plans and final editing of final version
- Produce narrative sections that reflect win strategy and address all evaluation factors and criteria
Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field Required Experience: Five years' experience performing government proposal preparation functions, including at least two years specifically drafting, refining, and editing Request for Proposal (RFP) technical narratives and past performances. Understanding of DoD organizations, structures, and acronyms. Required Skills:
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, including features used for long documents. Excellent written and communication skills.
- Technical writing and editing, including editorial practice and standards. Demonstrated capability to write clear, logical, and persuasive narrative for a variety of technical and non-technical documents
- Ability to:
- Create original content from research
- Interview subject matter experts and then create original content
- Edit and refine draft written inputs from technical SMEs into winning proposal content
- Tailor/repurpose archived content to meet similar requirements
- Strong time management and prioritization skills, team player with uncommon attention to detail
- Experience working collaborative documents and repositories (SharePoint use)
- Proficient in use of MS PowerPoint and EXCEL
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet deadlines, to include evenings and weekends at times
- Familiarity with preparing proposals for a variety of government agencies including U.S. Navy, Air Force, Army, DHS, and FAA.
- Experience responding to DOD requests for proposals
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the Government source selection process
- Formal Shipley training desired, however, a working knowledge of the Shipley or Lohfeld process is acceptable.
- Experience working with AI in proposal development.
- Experience serving as a Volume Lead or Proposal Manager
- Experience serving as a Content Writer

- Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Position is open to remote candidate
- Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000 (The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.)
