DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role involves providing support to veterinary pathologists during routine activities in the postmortem examination room and at the multi-headed microscope. Responsibilities may encompass a variety of tasks, such as observing and assisting with necropsies, preparing and delivering case presentations to the laboratory team, examining microscopic slides in collaboration with a pathologist, and participating in mock examinations to enhance learning. Beyond these routine pathology duties, the position also entails engaging in non-routine tasks across different areas of the laboratory, thereby contributing to a comprehensive understanding of veterinary pathology and laboratory operations. This multifaceted role not only aids in the development of practical skills but also fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing within the laboratory environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/26 through 8/28/26.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

  • Enrollment in good academic standing as a FULL-TIME student in a bachelor's, or advanced degree program in:
    • Pre - Veterinary Medicine
    • Biological Science
  • An approved major course at an accredited college or university.
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
  • Freshman year completed by May 2026
  • Pennsylvania residency or enrollment of a Pennsylvania college or university.

Additional Requirements:

  • The candidate selected for this position will be required to be vaccinated against rabies prior to the start of employment and maintain a current rabies vaccination throughout the duration of employment.
  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license that is not under suspension.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
