DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Digital Intern with the Office of Digital you will learn the skills necessary to become a key player in managing the Commonwealth's environmental online presence. You will work directly with the Deputy Digital Director, diving into the core maintenance of the Department of Environmental Protection website. This hands-on role will provide experience in front-end web development, communication strategies, and accessibility through use of the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platform. The role will also be required to participate in meetings, track workflow, and execute file retention guidelines and data management and naming best practices on the Department's public facing file repository.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time internship which will occur from 5/1/2026 through 8/28/2026.
  • Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on a scheduled that aligns with the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

  • Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:
    • Web Development
    • Information Technology
  • An approved major course of study at an accredited college or university
  • Freshman year completed by May 2026
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
  • Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension. At your own expense, you may be required to commute to your assigned work location in Harrisburg using your own vehicle.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
