As a Waterways and Wetlands Intern, you will learn how to provide vital assistance with assignments related to the protection and restoration of the Commonwealth's waterways and wetlands throughout the Southeast Region. You will have the exciting opportunity to assist in field investigations and ecological studies of aquatic habitats and environmental conditions, inclusive of conducting biological surveys and investigations, analyzing community structures, and compiling detailed field notes and sketches to prepare schematic layouts of field conditions. Strong attention to detail is crucial, as you will also be conducting data entry as part of regional data tracking efforts.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time internship which will occur from 5/1/2026 through 8/28/2026.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on a schedule that aligns with the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

• Enrollment in good academic standing as a FULL-TIME student in a bachelor's, or advanced degree program in:
  • Environmental Biology
  • Ecology
  • Geography
• An approved major course of study at an accredited college or university.
• Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
• Freshman year completed by May 2026
• Pennsylvania residency or enrollment of a Pennsylvania college or university.

Additional Requirements:

• You must possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
