DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this internship position, you will play a vital role in the planning and execution of thorough waterbody surveys, which are essential for the monitoring and evaluation of the surface waters across the Commonwealth. This includes areas that may be impacted by oil and gas exploration activities. Your responsibilities will involve collaborating with experienced professionals to gather data, analyze water quality, and assess ecological health, ensuring that all findings contribute to informed decision-making regarding environmental management and regulatory compliance. This hands-on experience will not only enhance your understanding of aquatic ecosystems but also provide you with valuable skills in fieldwork, data collection, and environmental assessment methodologies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time internship that will last from 5/1/2025 through 8/28/2026
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on a schedule that aligns with the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Meadville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- Enrollment in good academic standing as a FULL-TIME student in a bachelor's or advanced degree program in:
- Biology
- Wildlife and Fisheries Science
- An approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological, and environmental sciences may be acceptable.
- Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
- Freshman year completed by May 2026
- Pennsylvania residency or enrollment of a Pennsylvania college or university
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
