DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will play a vital role in water resources planning for the Coastal Resources Management Program within the Interstate Water Resources Management Division at the Department of Environmental Protection. This opportunity will allow you to enhance your scientific, environmental, and mapping skills while participating in various program activities throughout the state, with a particular emphasis on the Delaware Estuary and Lake Erie coastal zones. Your work will focus on critical areas such as coastal hazards, wetlands, public access, grant management, GIS/remote sensing, ocean resources, invasive species, and community engagement.

Moreover, you will contribute to surveillance and educational initiatives aimed at ensuring compliance with the Pennsylvania Plumbing System Lead Ban and Notification Act, which prohibits lead-containing materials in plumbing systems. This is essential for safeguarding public health by preventing lead exposure in drinking water. Additionally, you will be involved in daily operations related to the WIIN Act Voluntary School and Childcare Lead Testing & Reduction Grant, gaining hands-on experience in grant administration, compliance, data management, and program coordination while working closely with program staff to ensure accurate documentation and timely reporting.
