Manager, Drug & Alcohol Compliance

The Drug & Alcohol Compliance Manager is part of the New England Integrated Absence Management team and is responsible for leading the Drug & Alcohol Compliance team. This role is responsible for drug and alcohol compliance throughout the New England Business Unit.

• Provide guidance to all colleagues within the New England Business Unit on all drug and alcohol related matters.
• Provide information and consultation regarding drug and alcohol matters to HR business partners, Labor Relations, and Legal.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of National Grid's drug and alcohol compliance programs.
• Responsible for managing the relationship with National Grid's Third-Party Administrator which includes interpretation and application of established company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and state and federal drug and alcohol regulations.

• Manage and coordinate all drug and alcohol testing including random, pre-employment, follow up, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and return to duty
• Manage the mandatory referral process through National Grid's Employee Assistance Program
• Maintain a working knowledge of state and federal regulations as well as industry standards for drug & alcohol compliance. Specifically, 49 CFR Parts 40, 199, and 382.

• This position involves extensive interaction with employees, both management and union, from all functions within the New England Business Unit

• Responsible for providing coverage for Absence Management Director as needed

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in related fields
• Experience managing drug and alcohol compliance programs
• Ability to lead and develop a team of management analysts
• Working knowledge and understanding of US Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations
• Understanding of company sick-leave benefits and applicable federal and state leave regulations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Effective relationship management skills
• Ability to make timely and effective decisions
• Demonstrated proficiency in applicable information systems
• Excellent analytical skills

• Excellent computer and data analysis skills (Microsoft Office suite)
