The Tennessee Department of Agriculture works to ensure that agriculture and forestry are the leading industries in Tennessee. The Department actively works with industry, consumers, and lawmakers to serve, support, and promote agriculture and forestry businesses, that they may be more profitable while also protecting the public health and safety.

How you make a difference in this role:

In this role, you contribute to the stewardship and visual quality of agricultural landscapes across campus by applying horticultural expertise to maintain healthy plant systems. Your work supports and enhances land use efficiency and ensures plant resources are managed in alignment with departmental standards. Through informed plant selection, care, and maintenance, you help showcase a diverse example of Tennessee agriculture on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and maintain landscapes, green spaces, ponds, greenhouse and agricultural areas on campus.
  2. Perform planting, pruning, fertilization, and soil management.
  3. Maintain accurate records related to maintenance activities and schedules for designated areas.
  4. Coordinate with departmental staff and external contractors to support ongoing horticultural projects.
  5. Assist with seasonal planning and resource allocation to support effective landscape and plant management across campus.
