Job Description

The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Access Control Specialist I to lead and oversee the access control function, which includes access authorization program, background screening program, badging operation, and insider threat mitigation. A successful candidate will have subject matter expertise in applicable regulations and compliance requirements for related access and security protocols, including U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and other applicable regulations.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to MURR's values of respect, responsibility, discovery, and excellence. Must be available for reliable and consistent onsite work.

Key Duties Performed by this Position Will Include:

* Analyzing, evaluating, and reporting information developed through background investigations, including criminal and credit history checks; and provide defensible recommendations to the NRC-approved Reviewing Officials for granting, denying, or withdrawing unescorted access and/or access authorization.
* Directly handling complex and highly sensitive investigative and personnel issues.
* Managing and conducting quality reviews and compliance audits of personnel security programs, investigative actions, and supporting documentation to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and improve the effectiveness of compliance risk management, control, and governance process; resolve escalated issues, and implement program improvements; and follow-up on audit results.
* Focusing on continuous improvement of processes and protocols; and consult with leadership regarding recommendations for strengthening internal controls and operations.
* Collaborating with leadership, functional business areas, and hiring managers to meet business demands while ensuring access and security protocols are upheld; and develop and nurture professional relationships with leadership and others at various levels throughout the University System.
* Managing processes to ensure adherence to security access control policies and standard methodologies and conduct security awareness and training programs for internal and external stakeholders.
* Performing other duties as assigned.

Must be available for regular and consistent onsite work.

Shift

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., variable (to be discussed at interview)

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

* Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to background screening and access control
* Strong communication and relationship-building
* Microsoft Office proficiency
* Organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments
* Commitment to university values
* Notary public or ability to obtain

* Demonstrated ability to collaborate by building partnerships and working productively with others to meet shared objectives

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $20.00-$28.00 per hour

Grade: M05
