About this role:

The Sr Database Reliability Engineer / DBA will provide technical expertise in designing, managing, and administering databases on-premises and in the cloud (AWS) to meet the shifting organizational demands. This role will engage in modernization activities and to support Database reliability in cloud platforms and participate in automation efforts to enhance provisioning and operations and service reliability of all types of datastores.

What you'll do:

  • Ensure 24x7 reliability & availability for critical database systems hosted on AWS & Azure Cloud platforms.
  • Implement, maintain, and enforce effective industry standard processes and policies within QA, DEV, and Production environments.
  • Participate in the architecture and design phases of databases to support critical applications.
  • Engage with SRE, DevOps, Application Development, and other technical teams to implement solutions.
  • Work with managers and staff of Application Development teams to follow tactical and strategic directions.
  • Prioritize work based on project needs and work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Support the tactical and strategic directions for the organization's database infrastructure.
  • Provide routine status reports to leadership and escalate as necessary.
  • Maintain service levels and departmental goals for problem resolution.
  • Follow security standards and effectively manage software patches and upgrades.
  • Coordinate with team members and share knowledge within the team.
  • Lead projects independently and work closely with the rest of the team.
  • Adapt to changing technology environments and embrace newer platforms.
  • Work in an agile environment and engage in DevOps practices.

What you'll need:

  • 8+ years of experience in Database Engineering and Operations with a bachelor's degree.
  • Extensive hands-on experience and authoritative knowledge of various database platforms (Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, AWS Aurora, SQL Server) to support high volume OLTP & DW systems.
  • Experience in building and managing databases in the cloud (Azure and AWS RDS).
  • Ability to troubleshoot performance issues in real time.
  • Experience in migrating databases from Oracle to Postgres is a plus.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD Pipelines, Terraform, Jenkin, Cloudbees, AWS CloudFormation, AWS Lambda, Azure Resource Manager, Ansible, etc.
  • Skilled in scripting languages such as Shell and Python.
  • Working knowledge of Neo4J or other graph databases, AWS DynamoDB, Glue, and Lake Formation.
  • Ability to work on SQL Server, Azure Synapse, or related Data Analytics tools.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with data replication & Migration tools & Methods such as DMS , Glue
  • Good judgment, prompt decision-making ability, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Commitment to teamwork and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for 24/7 support.
  • Ability to envision and create automation for provisioning and administration tasks.
  • Database & Cloud certifications are preferable.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 92,000 USD - 131,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
